Today we went for a hike at Princess Place Preserve, and it was beautiful, trees, trails, and so much nature everywhere. But the coolest thing I saw wasn’t big like a deer or a bird…it was a green dung beetle!

I couldn’t believe it, I’ve read about them, but this was my first time seeing one in real life. It was shiny and green, and it was rolling a ball of dung across the ground like it was pushing a giant treasure. The beetle was so strong for its tiny size!

It made me laugh to think of him rolling it all the way back to his home. Nature is so amazing—every creature has its own special job, even if it’s something a little stinky. 😆

I’ll always remember my first dung beetle sighting. Princess Place is full of surprises! 🌳💚

Love,

Nico 🌸
