Today I got to do something amazing, I helped Daddy and the turtle patrol with a turtle nest clean out! It was a green sea turtle nest right on the beach. My daddy is part of turtle patrol on our beaches and when it's safe, sometimes I get to go with him and watch them do releases, rescues and nest checks!

This weekend was a nest check, After the hatchlings crawl to the ocean, the patrol comes to check the nest and see how many babies made it out. And guess what? I got to help count! We counted 52 hatchlings that had hatched and already gone to the sea. šŸŒŠšŸ¢šŸ’š

There was 1 egg that didn’t hatch, but it turned out to be an unfertile egg, so no baby turtle was inside. That’s part of nature, and it helps the patrol learn more about the nest.

It felt so special to hold the eggshells and think about all the tiny turtles who made their way to the ocean. I hope they grow big and strong and come back one day to lay their own eggs.

Helping the turtle patrol made me feel like a real scientist! šŸ§‘ā€šŸ”¬šŸŒ“

Love,

Nico 🌸
